PRDC 2020 Update (06/07/2020)

Corona Virus update

For the safety of all conference participants, we have decided to postpone our physical meeting to December 2021. This decision does not impact the publication of accepted papers and IEEE will still be publishing the proceedings.
Your author registration fee will be applied to your 2020 publication and you will be presenting your paper in 2020 sessions organized in December 2021.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause, and your understanding is appreciated. Thank you for your patience in these challenging times.
We look forward to meeting you in December 2021 in Perth, Australia.

Rationale: from the organizing team

One of the key benefits of a conference is the networking opportunities provided especially for early-career community members: PhD students get to give a talk and be nominated to post-doctoral and faculty positions, junior tenure-track faculty get to meet senior faculty who can later write recommendation letters for tenure/promotion, PIs discuss future grants and collaboration, etc. Furthermore, sessions enable paper authors of similar directions to exchange ideas in ways that virtual meetings truly lack. Coffee breaks, meals, elevator speeches, birds-of-a-feather sessions are where most interaction happens. We decided that given the uncertainties associated to the Covid-19 pandemic, it would be in the best interest of authors to postpone the conference but still hold it physically. In this way, social interaction is not undermined, particularly given the worldwide audience we have and the difficulty even finding a time zone that would work for everyone or even the majority. So, we decided that we would merge with 2021. Of course, we are taking risks: (1) will we be able to have the 2021 conference physically? (2) is the work presented one year later going to be stale? (3) will there be people unwilling/unable to travel in 2021? It was not an easy decision, but putting all the pros and cons, we decided it would be best to co-locate PRDC 2020 and PRDC 2021, and have one big celebration of the first two decades of the conference in Perth, Australia. The proceedings will get published this year, and therefore, the work can still be timely read/cited.

Please note, the notification of accepted papers will be sent on 2nd of September 2020. We aplogize for the delays.
Due to many requests, we have extended the paper submission deadline to 1 August 2020 (FIRM)!
Corona Virus update: We are preparing the conference assuming things will be back to normal by the time our conference is being held. However, we will ensure to update you with any changes as soon as possible. Please contact the General Chair if you have any qustions. We hope to see you in Perth, Australia in December!
The site is open.

IEEE PRDC 2020 is the twenty-fifth event in the series of symposia started in 1989 that are devoted to dependable and fault-tolerant computing. PRDC is recognized as the main event in the Pacific area that covers many dimensions of dependability and fault tolerance, encompassing fundamental theoretical approaches, practical experimental projects, and commercial components and systems. As applications of computing systems have permeated into all aspects of daily life, the dependability of computing system has become increasingly critical. This symposium provides a forum for countries around the Pacific Rim and other areas of the world to exchange ideas for improving the dependability of computing systems.
